I have finally made it to London Pt.1
When I last wrote in this blog, I told you about how I was going on an around the world trip for my first year of High School. (Though I will be doing homeschool so teachers, no need to worry) Well around a week ago I arrived in London. When I arrived in London, it wasn't too, looking a lot like the U.S. Though once we started to travel through London to get to the hotel we were staying at, (Holiday Inn) I started to notice all the differences between the U.S and the U.K. There was a lot more brick buildings, the buildings were a lot closer together, and there were a lot more open spaces with parks, lakes, and other natural sites. Eventually, we arrived at the hotel and it was time for a long-needed rest.
Once we were done resting, we went over to a long-time friend's house. We originally meet her in Hawaii so she invited us to see her humble abode. We got to meet her husband and her six and nine-month-old, which meant I was babysitting while the parents socialized. Once they were done socializing, we had some shepherds pie (which I hadn't had before) and walked back to the hotel, which was only a block away. Then it was straight to bed and off to sleep. The next morning was an 8 o'clock breakfast, which I was not ready for, and off to the train station to see another dear friend from Hawaii. Once she arrived, there was lots of hugging and discussing, but eventually, we headed off on an adventure, which I later realized would be quite a long trip.
The first stop was the underground station and off to Green Park. It was quite a long train ride since we ended up missing the stop and not realizing it until we had traveled the railroad most of the way down. Then it was out at the next station, taking a train the other direction, and heading back to Green Park, which was most of the way back, almost missing it again. Though luckily we didn't and we jumped out at the green park station, walked back up the stairs, and bathed in the long-awaited sunlight. Once we had a quick drink of water, it was off into the great unknown. (Which was really unknown since my dad would not take a picture of the map with his phone) Eventually, after a lot of searching, we finally made it to Green Park, with its swans, beautiful lake, and over priced sitting chairs. So we decided instead of paying 20 dollars to sit on beach chairs, we would just spend that money on food and sit on the benches next to a small food truck parked by the water.
Once we finished lunch, we decided to head over to the park to try and discover the Peter Pan Statue that was in Hyde Park. After giving my mom most of our stuff to hold on too, (She didn't feel like going on the trek) we started to walk towards the supposed Peter Pan statue. After walking for around an hour, going this direction and that, we stumbled upon a tree where parrots when landing on peoples shoulders where they would peck of the food that had been placed there for their enjoyment. After a quick rain shower, we discovered the Peter Pan statue, had a quick pictures, grabbed my mom, and headed our separate ways. (Ours being the hotel, hers being a house boat) Once we had a quick nap (Still having jet lag) we had dinner with our friend and went off to bed.
